ECOSOC
The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is the United Nations’ central platform for reflection, debate, and innovative thinking on sustainable development. It is one of the six main organs of the United Nations established by the United Nations Charter in 1946 and is the principal body for coordination, policy review, policy dialogue and recommendations on economic, social and environmental issues, as well as for implementation of the internationally agreed development goals.
Agenda 1: Trade Liberalization
Policies that make an economy open to trade and investment with the rest of the world are needed for sustained economic growth. The evidence on this is clear. No country in recent decades has achieved economic success, in terms of substantial increases in living standards for its people, without being open to the rest of the world. Our council explores the necessity of free trade and debates on the various aspects of liberalization and it's impact on various economies.
